The Catalogue Method

Kexumireetrove is an independent reference for curious collectors. We write like catalogue editors: describe what is there, cite where claims come from, and mark what remains uncertain.

Four labels for every claim

  1. OBSERVEDVisible on the object itself: marks, joints, serials, repairs.
  2. DOCUMENTEDSupported by a record that names this specific object: receipts, letters, catalogue entries.
  3. ATTRIBUTEDReasonable but unproven: style comparisons, family accounts, dealer descriptions.
  4. UNVERIFIEDClaims we could not test. Recorded, not repeated as fact.

Sources we rely on

Dates and historical facts on this site come from maker archives and company histories, museum collection records such as those of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum, assay office and hallmarking references, and guidance published by professional conservation bodies. Each fact panel names its source.

What we do not do

We do not value, buy, sell, broker or authenticate objects, and we accept no payment from dealers, auction houses or makers for coverage. We do not comment on specific items offered for sale. Where an object needs expert judgement, we say so and point readers to appropriate professional bodies.
